Ginsenoside-Rd (I, R=H) is selectively produced from ginsenoside-Rb, (I, R= beta -D-glucopyranosyl) and/or gypenoside V by enzymolysis with glucosidase and/or rhamnnosidase. The starting saponins may be obtained by extraction of Gynostemma pentaphyllum Makino or Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer. The obtained ginsenoside-Rd may be used as an analgesic, sedative, metabolism-improving or cardiovascular system-improving agent. |
