This rod consists of a tubular element, the two ends of which are sealed, containing neutron absorbing material, and the latter is in liquid state. Boric acid concentrated by boron isotope B10 is the best to be used for it. Hydrogen-absorbing material is set at one end of the sealed tubular element as an end plug and at the other end of the sealed tubular element a hydrogen compound trap forms another end plug; they are related through the inner space filled with neutron absorbing agent. |
