The arc starts in the arcing aera at one end of the arc chutes when the contacts of this breaker are seperated. A gas expansion chamber is situated closely to said arcing aera with its openning toward the arc chutes. In this chamber, a set of static contacts is so arranged and shaped that the expanded arc gas can directly enter the chamber and push the air in the chamber into the arc chutes. At the oppositing end, the arc chutes are connected through an additional gas expansion chamber with a exhaust device formed by the inner wall of the break. |
