    An apparatus and process for contacting vapors and liquids with a fixed bed of catalysts. Oil and a reactant gas, preferably H2, at conventional conversion conditions are passed down through a bed of porous solid catalyst. A portion of the treated oil from beneath the bed is recycled and redistributed over the catalyst bed. The total of the fresh feed rate and recycle oil flow rate may be kept constant. This technique is especially useful for hydrodewaxing of oils over zeolite catalysts.
