    The present compound activator consists of three components, ZnCl2, MgCl2 and NaCl. In producing active carbon by said compound activator, the technological process and equipment are the same as that of the original zinc chloride process, but its final activation temp. can be reduced to about 460 deg.C. It not only retains the advantages of the original ZnCl2 process, but also greatly reduces the amount of volatilized ZnCl2 and thus lowers the total comsumption of ZnCl2 and alleviaters the air pollution.
