    The present invention relates to a measuring method for fluid substance level in container. The measuring method is that a transmitter feeds a microwave signal through a tubular wave guide which is vertically downwards inserted into the container and it makes the upper surface position of this substance in the wave guide vary with the depth of the surrounding substance so as to measure the flow substance level in the container.The signal is reflected back from the surface and is fed into a receiver which is in use through the wave guide. After the signal is treated in an electronic device, it can detect the substance level in the container. The microwave signal is fed into the wave guide via a mode generator and its wavelength is less than the diameter of said wave guide.
