A method of producing a freewheel for bicycles, consisting of an outer ring body with tracks for the balls of the ball bearings of the freewheel, an inner ring body and two clamping discs which are fastened to the inner ring body, the balls of the one ball bearing being fed in the correct position first of all into the inner ring body, which is radially connected at the side to the one clamping disc, then the outer ring together with catches being fed in the correct position and subsequently the balls of the second ball bearing being fed in the correct position. In order to provide such a method, by means of which fully automatic assembly of the freewheel is permitted, it being possible to compensate for dimensional differences, resulting from the production tolerances, with regard to the bearing play of the ball bearings during the assembly of the individual parts, it is proposed that the other clamping disc be subsequently pressed against the flank of the inner ring body facing this clamping disc, knobs which project from the clamping disc in the direction of the flank of the inner ring body being pressed against the flank, and the flank being deformed under the action of pressure until the desired bearing play of the ball bearings is achieved, and subsequently the clamping disc is riveted to the inner ring body. |
