A vapor sensing type switch for electric water heater is composed of a main body with an extended tubular part, a thermosensitive bimetal element on (or near) the end of said tubular part, a cavity behind the bimetal element, a pair of electric countacts, a sliding push rod acting on said electric contacts under the action of bimetal element, and a vapor/air exhaust outlet.
