The position of an elevator car (2) in an elevator shaft is important in controlling an elevator (4). To achieve the above, a device for producing elevator shaft information is required. In the example cited, the device consists of an encoder (11) connected to a toothed belt (10) tensed above the height of the shaft, wherein said encoder detects the absolute position of the elevator car (2). The encoder (11) which is arranged on the elevator car (2) has a toothed wheel (12) which can be driven by means of the toothed belt (11) when the elevator car (2) moves in the elevator shaft (1). Guide rollers (13) ensure that the toothed wheel (12) engages securely in the toothed wheel work (12) of the toothed belt (10). Each end of the toothed belt (10) is associated with a transversal support element (14). A reinforcement of the toothed belt acting as a tension string ensures that the necessary belt tension is maintained. |
