    In order to implement a demodulating method and demodulating circuit for portable information equipment carrying out synchronous electromagnetic induction communication using coils that are capable of receiving signals in a stable manner even when there are shifts in the electromagnetic coupling characteristics of the receiving coil or shifts in the frequency characteristics of the receiving circuit, a waveform reshaping circuit subjects a signal received in a synchronous manner by a coil to waveform reshaping taking center points of the signal as threshold values and levels of the wave-shaped waveform are latched after a period of time decided beforehand has elapsed using a demodulation clock that is faster than a transmission clock. The received data is then finally demodulated by determining whether or not latch data is valid using steps of a procedure.
