    An apparatus for recording and reproducing image data comprises a shuffling memory (6), means for writing image data in the shuffling memory according to a synchronizing signal and a write reference clock signal synchronized with the image data, and means for reading image data from the shuffling memory according to the synchronizing signal and a stabilized read reference clock signal being asynchronous with the write clock signal.
