    The invention concerns a method characterised in that it: counts the number of motion vectors whereof at least a component is greater than a predetermined value less than the maximum value; compares said number with at least a predetermined threshold, and the motion vector field is declared to be saturating if said number is higher than the predetermined threshold. The invention is useful for image interpolation.
