    An electric contact material is prepared from granular electrolytic silver or chemically reduced silver and granular carbonate or oxalate of purified heavy RE metal through proportional mixing in Wt. ratio of (82-95):(5-18), calcining to decomposing carbonate or oxalate, die pressing, sintering, squeezing or forging, forging again, drawing wire and obtaining the material. Its advantages are low cost and no environmental pollution.
