The invention relates to a method for operating UMTS-TDD or TSM mobil wireless system. The system has a base station and a plurality of mobile communication terminal devices belonging to the base station. Each of the mobile communication terminal device has at least a learning sequence for evaluating the characteristic of the physical channel between the communication terminal device and a common base station for disributing to the learning sequence, wherein each of learning sequences at least has a CDMA code, for each of the mobile communication terminal devices, itsself used CDMA code and its at least one learning sequence are known, and the learning sequence can be led out. To determine the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) code being used during operating of the mobile radio system, the method involves signaling to at least one mobile communication terminal the associations between the CDMA codes being used and learning sequences for further mobile communication terminals that are allocated to the same base station.
