A light source device having improved light emitting efficiency, increased light output, prolonged life, and increased mechanical strength; and a method of producing the same. This light source device comprises a radiator plate having heat conductivity, insulation members joined to one surface of the radiator plate, holes extending through the insulation members at places on the insulation members opposed to the radiator plate, LED chips disposed at the places on the radiator plate exposed through the holes, extensions projecting inward from the opening edge on the radiator plate side in the holes, wiring sections disposed on the insulation members and electrically insulated from the radiator plate by the insulation members, bonding wires for making an electrical connection between the places on the wiring sections extending from the extensions and the electrodes of the LED chips, and a sealing resin filled in the holes to seal the whole of the LED chips and bonding wires and having translucency. |
