    A rear type electroluminescence display is provided in which light emitted from a light emitting layer to be interfered between first and second electrodes. A rear type electroluminescence device comprises a transparent substrate, a first electrode and a second electrode formed on the same side of transparent substrate; and an intermediate layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The intermediate layer has a light emitting layer for emitting light by the electrical operation of the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode is formed of a semi-transparent conductive layer which partially reflects light emitted from the light emitting layer. The second electrode is formed of a reflection layer which reflects light emitted from the light emitting layer.
