    The invention provides to improve the wrapping workability of a water-barrier tape around a cable by optimizing the rigidity of the water-barrier tape and to give a wrapped cable having good appearance free from wrinkles. CONSTITUTION: This water-barrier material has a double-layer structure composed of a water-absorbing composition layer formed on a sheet substrate at an areal density of <=40g/m<2> or a sandwich structure containing a water- absorbing composition layer having an areal density of <=40g/m<2> and sandwiched between a pair of sheet substrates. The rigidity of the material is 0.2-1.5gfcm<2> / cm in longitudinal direction and 0.2-0.6gfcm<2> /cm in lateral direction.
