Said machine comprises: a chassis (4) that is supported by running gear (2); a working roller (20), which is mounted to pivot in relation to the chassis (4) and whose shaft is mounted in pivoting arms (42) and runs transversally to the direction of travel; a cover (28) that surrounds the working roller (20); an internal combustion engine (32) that is supported by the chassis and comprises at least one output shaft (34) for the motive power that is required to drive the working roller, at least one mechanical power transmission unit (36) transmitting the motive power from the output shaft (34) to the working roller (20). According to the invention, the internal combustion engine (32) is positioned in a fixed manner on the chassis (4) between the pivoting arms (42) and the mechanical power transmission unit(s) (36), together with the working roller (20) that is mounted in the pivoting arms, can be pivoted about the axis of the output shaft (34) of the internal combustion engine (32). |
