In a slot-in system disc drive, a predetermined clearance for insertion must be ensured by lowering a spindle motor supported on a traverse base when a disc is inserted into the disc drive or taken out therefrom. However, the distance for elevating/lowering the traverse base must be minimized when a thin disc drive is required. Spindle cam members (30A, 30B) for moving the spindle motor (1) downward with respect to the traverse base (2) are provided. Since the spindle cam members (30A, 30B) are driven through a loading motor (6), a clearance for inserting the disc (400) can be ensured even if the elevating/lowering distance of the traverse base (2) is minimized, and the disc drive can be made thinner. |
