It is possible to provide a removable medium recording/reproduction device capable of preventing eject of medium without release of the eject-inhibited state even after power supply to the device is turned off. The device includes a load/eject mechanism for a removable medium for delivering the removable medium into the device where it can be reproduced or sending the removable medium out of the device; medium eject-inhibit information detection means for detecting whether a predetermined area on the medium has medium eject-inhibit information recorded; and control means operating as follows. When the medium eject-inhibit information detection means has detected recording of the medium eject-inhibit information, the control means does not change the state of switch means of the device or does not eject the medium in response to an instruction from outside the device. When no recording of the medium eject-inhibit information is detected, the control means operates the load/eject mechanism so as to eject the medium according to the state change of the switch means or an instruction from outside the device. |
