The invention provides a technique of reducing impact force due to the bounceback of a bit after hammering operation in an impact type work tool. The impact type work tool has a tool body, hammer actuating members for executing the hammering operation, drive mechanisms for driving the hammer actuating members and an impact damper for absorbing the impact due to the bounceback after the hammering operation. The impact damper has a weight that receives reaction force transmitted from the hammer actuating members at a reaction force transmitting position where the weight is placed in a state of directly contacting the hammer actuating members or in a state of contacting the hammer actuating members via a hard metal-made intervening member against the reaction force received from the workpiece, and also, an elastic element that is elastically deformed while being pushed with the weight moved backward due to the transmitted reaction force and absorbs the reaction force transmitted to the weight with the elastic deformation. |
