    A method for detecting soft display media layer includes passing soft display media layer through detection area before driving electrode to be set on said layer is not prepared on it yet, checking and recording performance information of soft display media layer when it passes said detection area then displaying performance information of soft display media layer according to recorded detection result. The detection device for realizing said method is also disclosed.
