The present invention is one new process of producing anode carbon block including pressing petroleum coke into pellet before calcining and crushing calcined petroleum coke and adding the crushed petroleum coke into anode carbon block material. The production process features the extruding petroleum coke before calcining by means of great mechanical pressure to increase the density and strength of petroleum coke and decrease the burning area during calcining. The petroleum coke pressed into pellet may be calcined at relatively high temperature, and this can decrease ash content in calcined petroleum coke, increase carbon content, stabilize the shrinkage, regulate crystal arrangement, lower the specific resistance of the powder, increase the density and strength of powder and raise the quality of anode carbon block.
