A method for manufacturing an article comprising deposited fine glass particles wherein a burner row formed by the arrangement of two or more burners is relatively moved to a starting material and fine glass particles injected from the burner are deposited onto the starting material, and wherein the change of a deposition condition is carried out in the process of the progress of deposition of fine glass particles onto the starting material, characterized in that the change of a deposition condition is carried out two or more times and in a manner such that the positions of a burner in the longitudinal direction of the starting material at the times of changing a deposition condition are arranged with a spacing less than that between burners. The above method allows the manufacture of an article comprising deposited fine glass particles which is reduced in the variation of an outer diameter or the like caused by the change of a deposition condition. |
