The present invention provides one image processing method with lowered noise and no side effect and one X ray CT system capable of performing image processing. The image processing method includes the wavelet transformation of the input image in gradient form; classifying the resultant wavelet vectors into strong edge objects, weak edge objects, radial lines and noises; maintaining the wavelet vectors in strong edge objects intact; performing direction filtering on the wavelet vectors in weak edge objects; smoothing the wavelet vectors in radial lines and noises; and performing the reverse wavelet transformation on the resultant wavelet vectors to generate output image. |
