A mold clamping device (10) where the accuracy of mold opening and closing can be raised to a sufficiently high level. The mold clamping device has a first fixed member on which a fixed metal mold (15) is installed, a first movable member provided opposite the first fixed member and on which a movable metal mold (16) is installed, a second movable member advanced and retreated as the first movable member is advanced and retreated, a mold clamping force transmitting member for connecting the first and second movable members, and a drive section for mold opening and closing, advancing and retreating the first movable member to perform mold opening and closing. The drive section for mold opening and closing and the mold clamping force transmitting member are made to overlap at least a part of each of them. Since the drive section for mold opening and closing and a drive section for mold clamping are independent of each other, the drive section for mold opening and closing and the first movable member can be directly connected. As a result, accuracy of mold opening and closing can be raised to a sufficiently high level. |
