A display comprises a first gamma correcting section which divides a first color signal constituting a given video signal into N regions according to the magnitude, performs gamma correction of the first color signal using first coefficients specific to the first color signal and different for each regions, and outputs a first correction signal, a second gamma correcting section which divides a second color signal constituting the video signal and different from the first color signal into N regions according to the magnitude, performs gamma correction of the second color signal using second coefficients specific to the second color signal and different from the first coefficients for each region, and outputs a second correction signal, a generating section for generating a drive signal having amplitude values different for each of the N regions according to the first and second correction signals from the first and second correction sections, and a displaying section for displaying an image according to the drive signal from the generating section. The gradation, especially in a low frequency region, according to the color video signal and the regions is improved. |
