A catalyst composition which, when used in purifying a discharge gas containing organic compounds and silicon compounds, is inhibited from suffering a decrease in performance with time; a catalyst comprising the catalyst composition; and a process for producing the catalyst. The catalyst composition comprises alumina having a noble metal supported thereon and a zeolite added to the alumina. It gives a catalyst having greatly improved silicon resistance. The zeolite to be added preferably has an acid amount in the range of 0.4-1.5 mmol.NH3/g. |
