    The invention resides in a curved optical waveguide having an S-shaped core not having an axis deviation construction midway, and relates to a curved optical waveguide characterized in that a curvature at one end is 0 and a curvature at the other end is finite (>0), such curved optical waveguide making it possible to provide an optical waveguide in which optical loss is at a minimum at connections at both ends even in an optical splitter, a directional coupling or the like and which has a shape with no need for an offset.
