System for invoking a privileged function in a device. The system includes a method that allows an application to invoke a function on a device, wherein the device includes at least two operating modes comprising a privileged mode (314) and a non-privileged mode(322), and the function executes in the privileged mode (314). The method includes receiving a request from the application to invoke the function and determining the operating mode of the application. The method also includes invoking the function using an interrupt (310), if the application is executing in the non-privileged mode, wherein the function is executed within the same task as the application. The method also includes invoking the function directly, if the application is executing in the privileged mode. |
