Data for point searching can be partly updated and thereby the update efficiency is improved. Data for point searching includes (a) point searching files (RF-k) containing POI data as their elements, (b) a menu display file (MNF) for displaying a searching screen, and (c) an area management table (TBL). When the user conducts vicinity search, the mesh code to which the point on a map specified by the user belongs is specified on the basis of the menu display file (MNF), and a search key including the mesh code is generated. A point searching file (RF-k) corresponding to the search key is specified on the basis of the area management table (TBL), and POI data corresponding to a facility present near the point specified by the user is extracted from the POI data included in the point searching file (RF-k). |
