There are provided an imaging device, method, and program capable of rapidly displaying a thinned image of an acquired image. When a shutter is operated, an electronic camera starts imaging and records the acquired image on a recording medium. Here, the electronic camera displays an image (thinned display image) expressing the imaging state on a display unit. A user can reference the thinned display image to check the imaging state. The image acquired by the photoelectric conversion by the CCD is divided into a plurality of times (twice in this case) when being read out. More specifically, firstly, a necessary portion (A in Fig. 6) for constituting the thinned display image is read out. That is, since the necessary portion for constituting the thinned display image is read out firstly, it is possible to generate a thinned display image before reading out all the images of one frame (C in Fig. 6). |
