A refrigerator where returnability of a refrigerating machine oil to a compressor is improved. The refrigerator has a compressor at the top portion or an upper rear portion of a refrigerator body and has a freezing cycle using hydrocarbon as the refrigerant and a mineral oil as the refrigerating machine oil. As a result, the speed of flow in piping is increased and solubility of the refrigerant to the refrigerating machine oil is increased, and this can increase the amount of return of the refrigerating machine oil from an evaporator to the compressor. Further, by restriction of the amount of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor into the freezing cycle, risk of damage etc. to the compressor caused by shortage of the refrigerating machine oil in the compressor can be further reduced. |
