性质：无色透明液体，熔点-66.1℃，沸点188.6℃，95℃（4.67kPa），78℃（1.87kPa），68℃（1.07kPa），相对密度0.8630（25/4℃），折光率1.4129，闪点66℃。能与醇、醚、氯仿混溶，不溶于水。与水可形成共沸混合物，沸点98.5℃，含庚酸乙酯72%。

制备方法：用庚酸与乙醇酯化可以得到含酯量为98%以上的成品。

用途：庚酸乙酯具有菠萝的香气，可用作花香香精、果实香精以及烟草、酒用香精。也可用于有机合成。
