性质：（R）型：双晶单斜或正交结晶，熔点 178℃，[α]+26.5（mol/L盐酸），具亚胺味道，在中性或微碱性溶液中易被空气氧化成胱氨酸，酸性环境下较稳定，易溶于水、乙醇、乙酸，不溶于乙醚、丙酮、乙酸乙酯、苯、二硫化碳及四氯化碳。
制备方法：可从蛋白质水解液中分离得到。
用途：乙酰半胱氨酸的中间体，食品添加剂、酶生长抑制剂、维生素C抗氧剂、解毒剂。
